Welcome to my author page. I’ll be sharing more news and upcoming events soon. In the mean time, have a look around at some of my pages. I will update this site at times so feel free to come visit on a regular basis. Otherwise, I will post on my FB page when updates have been added. You can follow me at tonykatava on FB.
Some pretty exciting news. Rise of First World is included in a fantastic Story-bundle with some other awesome indie authors. Thirteen novels all for the low price of fifteen dollars.
Check out the details in the link below. Some proceeds going to an excellent non-profit, but only available until June 7th 2018.
I recently had the honor of being interviewed by Raymond Bolton with The Write Stuff. You can check out the link below to get a glimpse behind the scenes at the little man that lives in my brain.
I’m thrilled to announce that Rise of First World has found a new home with WordFire Press and is once again available to purchase. The link is below if you’d like to take a gander. Very excited to have my book being presented next to some other, very successful WordFire authors. Check out the second link to Baen to see a list of authors. So grateful to see my name on the same list as well known writers.
For the time being, Rise of First World is not available through Amazon. The book is being moved to a larger publishing house and should be available again early in 2017. I will post when that happens.
Lots of other good things in the works as well.
Looking forward to attending the Myths and Legends con in Denver August 12th – 14th! This will be my first time speaking on panels.
So this event took place in Denver over the last weekend. I met with four agents to pitch my latest novel, Lilly’s Law. It is a Suspense/Thriller set in near-future America, approximately ten to twenty years beyond current date. I know it is a big change from my last book and to those of you that are waiting for the companion novel to come out, it is still in the works. Sometimes when a story wants to be told, it won’t take no for an answer. Lilly’s Law is one of those stories.
Anyway, of the four pitches I did, I got one request for a full manuscript, one request for first three chapters, and one request for the first fifty pages. The fourth pitch was to a screenwriter I hoped would be interested in making the story into a screenplay. He said he didn’t think it was a good fit for his agency, but as we talked he did express interest in my novel, Rise of First World. Asked for the first three chapters for consideration for adaptation to film.
Wow. Still processing the events of the day and trying to keep my feet on the ground.
Had a great time at StarFest Denver. I got to meet and hang out with some really cool people, and sold far more books than I expected. Was a great weekend. Looking forward to going back in 2017.
Really enjoyed my first, Author Signing event. Thanks to the Ute and Yeti in downtown Colorado Springs for offering the space for myself and a couple of my other author friends to meet with fans.
So this event is happening this coming weekend, Jan. 22nd-24th in Colorado Springs. I’ve been to several conventions before but this will be my first as an actual author. Copies of my novel, Rise of First World, will be available at the Strigidae Publishing table. Looking forward to a fun weekend.
New post (Christopher Katava’s “RISE OF FIRST WORLD” Now Available for Purchase in Print and on Kindle) has been published on Strigidae Publishing
So here’s my big news. My fantasy novel Rise of First World was accepted by Strigidae Publishing last year and after many late nights and creative magic, has been brought into manifestation.
For Iain, village life wasn’t too exciting until a sudden change in climate forces him to cross the sea in search of a new home for his tribe. There he discovers the stories about strange and mystical creatures are not only real, but more beautiful and terrifying than imagined.
Alone and plagued by a bitter sense of loss he is drawn into a maze of interwoven worlds where everyone he meets seems to have their own agenda for him. But battling dragons and an evil sorcerer aren’t his only problems. He must discover the one attribute the Hue-man tribes possess that can save them from extinction.
A fierce woman warrior, a mysterious Seraphim and Iain’s own desire to overcome his past provide the best chance of survival, but even those he trusts and fights for may be plotting the destruction of his people and the Rise of First World.

This is a wonderful start to the new year and I’d like to thank the members of Colorado Springs Fiction Writers Group as well as the Fiction Foundry group for helping me get this tale out of my head and for continually pushing me to improve my craft. Every bit of red ink I received was worth it.
Last but not least, thank you to Hank and Hollie Snider at Strigidae Publishing for their hard work, dedication, and most of all, for believing.
Well its been a long time coming but I can now publicly announce one of my short stories has been released for public consumption. The Fiction Foundry Anthology has a wide assortment of genres from some truly talented authors. I consider myself fortunate to be included in this publication and there’s enough variety to satisfy just about anyone’s tastes.
For those in the Colorado Springs area the book will be available for sale at the Mountain of Authors event being held at the new Briargate Library on April 4th. Come on by and meet some of the writers. If not able to make it, here’s the link on Amazon.
This makes me very happy and I thank all of those who have inspired me to keep writing. This is still only a beginning step but stay tuned for another, even larger, announcement coming soon.
I’m delighted to announce that one of my short stories, “The Seventh Juror” has been selected to be a part of Fiction Foundry’s premier anthology titled “One.” Copies will be available for sale beginning April 4th at the Mountain of Authors event at the North Library in Colorado Springs. Several of the authors will be on hand, so stop by to pick up a copy and greet some remarkable, local authors. I’ll post a link to where it can be purchased on line when it becomes available.
Now I can actually claim being an author instead of introducing myself as a writer. This is the first announcement for the year, but stop by again because I am pretty darn certain I’ll have another statement to release soon.
